The Corfu Retreat - Living On Corfu

Corfu is an island with two contrasting seasons - Summer and Winter.

In actual fact, these two seasons are sandwiched by what feels like two Springs during which time the island transforms.

Being a popular tourist resort, the summer months are busy and bustling with tourists from all over the world.

The weather, obviously, plays a large part in the attraction. However, Corfu’s natural beauty is the real magnet.

During the “winter” (i.e. non-tourist months) there is quite a lot of rainfall and the island’s lush green trees and plant-life is testimony to that.

Although the tourist season is busy, there are plenty of opportunities to meet people, socialise and enjoy the fabulous weather.

However - ask anyone who lives on Corfu and they will tell you that the best time is the “winter”.

Beware - MAKE NO PLANS in the winter! Whatever you plan will inevitably fail due to the fact that the island is an island of socialising and lazy afternoons talking to friends over a glass of wine (or two).

In terms of shops/facilities, Corfu has progressed dramatically over the years and the capital of the North (Acharavi) now has just about everything you need to avoid a trip into the cosmopolitan Corfu Town.
